In comments to The DairyNews General Director of MEAP (editor’s note – MEAP is an analytical Agency in the field of agriculture in the Middle East) noted that the consumption of dairy products in the Arab countries in recent years is growing and in the next 30 years will increase by 82%. “However, milk producers will face a number of challenges: global warming, water depletion and reduction of irrigated land. These factors will have a negative impact on the yield, which will reduce by 21%, and in some regions up to 40%, if the necessary measures are not taken”, said Hassan Sayekh.
According to the latest data, the Arab countries consume 26 million tons of milk annually, and produce about 10 million tons. “And now just imagine that in 30 years these figures will increase by 82%!”, – said the General Director of the Agency MEAP.
