“We have noticed some inconsistencies between the haplotype and gene marker tests on the red and RC results of some of the first sons and daughters of Salvatore RC,” says Roger Turner, Global Sales and Genetic Manager for Jetstream Genetics.
Several haplotype tests on early Salvatore-RC calves resulted in a negative RC status, while follow-up gene marker testing confirmed a positive RC status. Due to the discrepancies noticed thus far, Jetstream Genetics encourages owners of Salvatore-RC calves to confirm final red and RC genetic coat color results on individual animals using the gene marker test.
