The first edition of the first International Supreme Dairy Show was a true success. The event, which was held from November 5th to the 8th in Saint-Hyacinthe, counted on 746 competing cows and participation of nearly 5387 visitors.

The International event “Suprême Laitier” of Saint-Hyacinthe or “Supreme Dairy Show” in English, gathered on one site over 783 world-class dairy cows from six (6) different breeds: Ayrshire, Canadienne, Holstein, Red Holstein, Jersey and Brown Swiss coming from all Canadian provinces and the United States. The main purpose was to create exchanges and business opportunities for all those involved in the dairy sector, from milk producers to cattle breeders to merchants.

Moreover, the event hosted many international delegations of visitors composed of breeders and Semex representatives who attended the 100% Real Dairy Show at the Dairy Supreme Show and presented specialized machinery. These visitors came from Northern Ireland, France, Greece, Slovakia, Belgium, Brazil, Italy and they were also visited many breeders in the country.

The opening of the first International Dairy Show in Quebec, The Supreme Dairy Show, took place in the presence of Federal Minister Maxime Bernier with some of the best dairy producers, dairy cattle breeders, manufacturers as well as dairy equipment dealers in North America.

At the dairy show, there was also a conference and exchange forum section during the Dairy Symposium presented by CRAAQ, Le Centre de référence en agriculture et agroalimentaire au Québec. Being an information pillar in technical and economical in dairy production, the Symposium once again offered to nearly 600 participants a variety of related subjects which were covered extensively by the best specialists. Please note 25% of participants to the Symposium attended simultaneously via webcast.

We would like to highlight the successful sale of the best dairy subjects (76 cows) as well as the embryo sale (44 lots) for a total revenue estimated at $400 000 for different breeders and industry partners. The event allowed the launch of the new brand image of the CIAQ. The Insemination Center which enjoys an international reputation revealed its new logo before 400 persons among them dairy and beef producers association representatives, stakeholders and partners in the industry. The revitalization purpose of CIAQ image is to adopt a more representative visual identity which our clients expect from their Insemination Center located in Saint-Hyacinthe. The Ciaq has been in existence for 65 years and employs 320 persons in their team. Leader in genetics and bovine reproduction, they commit to innovate in order to offer breeders products and services which will improve the profitability of the herds belonging to dairy producers and butchers. CIAQ is owned by three groups of producers from Quebec: Les producteurs de lait du Québec (PLQ), le Conseil québécois des races laitières inc. (CQRL) and Le Conseil provincial des cercles d’amélioration du bétail inc. (CPCAB).

This agricultural activity will allow Saint-Hyacinthe to position itself as an ideal location for major events pertaining to agriculture or agri-food and will contribute to consolidate its role as the country’s agri-food techno pole.

The Supreme Dairy Show would like to thank all partners and sponsors for their support, particularly Desjardins, official presenter and CIAQ, main partner, as well as La terre de chez nous as official media presenter.

The organization would also like to highlight and thank Le Club Holstein de St-Hyacinthe for having paved the way for the Supreme Dairy show by organizing Quebec International Holstein Show during nineteen years.
