Field Of Dreams to Honor Keightley Core and Rueter’s

In what has become a tradition the Field Of Dreams sale will honor two farms that have enhanced the dairy industry.  This year the honorees are Keightley Core Jerseys, Salvisa, Kentucky and Reuter Dairy, Peosta, Iowa.

Keightley Core has been a name synonymous with great Jersey cattle since the early 1950’s.  Generation number four are now putting on white show trousers at the Kentucky State Fair and All American Jersey shows with great results.  The herd’s breeding program is crafted and carried out by cow talent the likes that are seldom seen at one farm.  The farm has a balanced approach to buying and selling with careful purchases made to enhance the established herd from time to time and as a seller the farm might have an unparalleled record of selling a World Dairy Expo. Champion, Royal Winter Fair Champion, All American Grand Champion and a Jersey Jug Winner.   At last year’s All American show the Keightley Core string garnered both Premier Breeder and Exhibitor awards as well as the Jersey Jug Winner and Reserve Senior Champion cow awards.  For several longtime exhibitors the show string brought back memories of the glory days of Happy Valley, Heaven Hill and Vaucluse.

Reuter dairy is a modern day example of an extremely well managed large operation with registered cows.  With a near one hundred pound tank average and a SCC of less than 70,000 on 800+ head one would expect to see immaculate conditions and the ultimate in cow comfort.  RJR dairy is also home to some of the breed’s finest cutting edge genetics as well as some of the finest typed cattle in the land.  The herd has sent numerous bulls to A.I. and has sold embryos to several foreign countries.  Like Keghtley Core, Reuters have supported the industry as both buyers and sellers.  The Reuter’s are the ultimate team players and are known for their keen dairy management ability but more important for their consideration for others welfare above their own.
