Condition Update of Patricia Stiles and Reese Burdette – September 15th

Pr-purpleUpdate from Laura Dufford Jackson (Patricia’s daughter and Reese’s Aunt) posted:

So many people ask me how our family is doing…they ask about Mom, they ask about Claire and Justin and all of our family members. This question can best be answered by Reese’s status and today, we are all doing GREAT! Reese has had 3 of the best days ever! She is making large strides in improvement these days and continues to heal and do all that the doctors ask of her. This past week, our prayer warrior team specifically prayed for big lung improvements, healthy lung tissue, healthy lung function, the ability to breathe in air and release CO2, for airways to be opened, we prayed hard and long every day and all day. And as I have said so many times before, we believe in the power of prayer because we are seeing so many improvements with her lungs. I saw an x-ray of Reese’s lungs yesterday for the first time in quite sometime and I was speechless! Her right lung was so very visible and looks to have air in majority of it now…a sight we have longed for. This little girl just keeps pushing forward and keeps fighting. It is so inspiring to see all that she can do and to witness her fight for life. We also credit The Johns Hopkins Staff, for they have worked tirelessly along side Reese and so many have fallen in love with her (how could you not?). This week, Reese has allowed Justin to be at the All-American Dairy Show with several animals from the farm and of course with Reese’s own “Pantene” who we all route for. We know this is such good therapy for Justin and we hope all continues to go well so that Claire can join him and the rest of the crew from the farm on show day. Our crew from Waverly didn’t make the Harrisburg trip this year and a powerful tribute and display was done in what has always been the Waverly aisle…it touched us all and we thank all at The All-American Dairy Show.
Regan and I were able to spend the weekend with Claire and Brinkley in Mercersburg to help her get some things done, and it was such a wonderful weekend…mainly because Reese just seems to be soaring. For me, I loved seeing Claire laugh a hearty laugh, enjoying the beautiful weather that God granted us as Fall (which has always been Claire’s favorite time of year) moves in. Claire bagged up some pellet feed and molassas sweet feed to take to Reese today…hoping those smells will make her feel more at ease and at home. Anyone who really knows Reese knows that for years as she has helped feed claves with her Mom and MoMo, Reese snacked on the calves sweet feed…loving that molasses coated feed. Many of us joke that that feed has given her superhuman stregnth! So today, please know that Reese continues to improve as does my Mom. Here are the specific prayers that we aks for this week: Pray for Mom to continue to grow stronger every day and for her skin to heal and get tougher and stronger. Pray for Reese to breathe in air and breathe out carbon dioxide. Pray for her lungs to continue to heal and open up more airways. Pray for her burns to heal and all open wounds to get smaller as they heal. Pray for no infections and pray for her body to handle the continued weaning of her medications. Many thanks to each of you.
