Laura Dufford Jackson, Patricia Stiles daughter and Reeses’ aunt post the following update:
Been a while since I have done an update…and we do like to keep those praying for Reese updated. Reese has had some good and some bad days…a few hiccups earlier this week but in typical Reese fashion, she is bouncing back. Reese had an X-ray swallow test yesterday and she passed with flying colors…woohoo! She can now have more of a variety of foods, more of the stuff she likes. Once I got the word, I stayed up and made her homemade Mac-n-cheese which she has asked for all day today. She also has a ham loaf on the way (her favorite birthday meal). Today, Reese had some auto- skin grafting done on her leg. As Dr. Stewart said “she handled it as beautifully as she could have and always does well on operating day”. Her surgery went great and she is sleeping off her anesthesia now. Reese continues to be the model patient, always doing what is asked of her, even when it isn’t fun. The therapist try and get her out of the bed each day and into a special chair to work on her stomach muscles and to help her lungs. She enjoys crafts (painting, stickers, coloring) and of course her movies. They are still trying to her push her lungs and make them work on their own…and she seems to handle these trials well. Her lungs still need a lot of time to heal and to learn to work again so we ask that each of you really pray for this. Pray for her lungs, pray for her kidneys to function and work. Pray for her skin grafts to take and not become infected. Pray for patience and understanding for Reese. Pray that with each new day we see improvement in Reese. Please continue to keep her doctors, nurses and staff in your prayers as well as Justin, Claire, all of her grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins. Pray for Reese to continue down her road to recovery.
