Canadians Sweep 2015 Youth Showmanship Contest

A total of 306 youth competed in the 2015 World Dairy Expo Youth Showmanship Contest on Thursday, October 1. Youth showmen from 25 different states and 3 provinces competed for top showmanship honors in the Junior, Intermediate and Senior divisions. Taking top honors in the Junior division was Savannah Crack from Richmond, QC; the Intermediate division was won by Madison Dyment from Burgessville, ON; and lastly Alana McKinven from Canton De Hatley, QC clenched the Senior division.

The top ten winners received neck ribbons and a cash prize. The first place winner of each division received a special award; the Junior division winner received the W. Terry Howard award, the Intermediate division winner received the Howard Voegeli award, and the Senior divison winner received the Keith King award. Each division winner also received a custom embroidered jacket, sponsored by FarmFirst Dairy Cooperative.

Serving as judges this year were: Judge Brian Behnke from Albany, Wis., Junior division; Judge Kathy Beerwort of Canton De Hatley, QC, Intermediate division and Judge Brian Carscadden of Guelph, ON, Senior division.
