California Quota Considered

The California Milk Producer Review Board will meet Sept. 12 in Modesto beginning at 9 a.m. to give what is expected to be final consideration to the milk quota program.  The Board has been drafting recommendations and rules about how California quota would be administered by the California Dept. of Food & Agriculture if a Federal Milk Marketing Order is approved by dairymen.

It is intended that full operation of the quota program would be confirmed and available before dairymen vote on an FMMO. No vote has been scheduled yet but the industry expects to see the final proposal from USDA late this year or early next year.

The Producer Review Board includes 15 producers from around the state working with CDFA staff.

To be held at the Modesto Centre Plaza in connection with the Doubletree Hotel, the meeting is open to the public.  More information may be found at http://www.cdfa.ca.gov/dairy
