‘Birthday Batter Blast’ Proclaimed Dairy Goodness Bar’s 2019 Flavor of the Fair

The colorful concoction made with vanilla ice cream or malt, birthday cake bites and rainbow sprinkles will be available exclusively at Midwest Dairy’s Dairy Goodness Bar at the 2019 Minnesota State Fair

The people have spoken: Birthday Batter Blast sundaes and malts – made with Minnesota dairy farmers’ secret, State Fair-recipe vanilla ice cream or malt, topped with birthday cake bites and rainbow sprinkles – will be available exclusively at Midwest Dairy’s Dairy Goodness Bar at the 2019 Minnesota State Fair. A record number of votes were cast as Birthday Batter Blast beat out two other flavors, MINTesota Nice and Late Summer Dream, in the fifth annual Flavor of the Fair public voting contest.

“In addition to serving tried and true malt and sundae favorites such as chocolate, vanilla, rhubarb-strawberry, apple-caramel and more, we love showcasing new and fun flavors that get fair-goers excited about what dairy farmers have to offer,” said Alex Larson, marketing and communications manager for Midwest Dairy. “This delicious and colorful flavor combines the Great Minnesota Get-Together with birthdays – two things we look forward to all year round.”

Like its Flavor of the Fair predecessors – 2015’s Salted Caramel Puff, 2016’s Call It Breakfast, 2017’s Pie ‘n the Sky and 2018’s That’s S’more Like It – Birthday Batter Blast will be served at the Dairy Goodness Bar only during the 12 days of the 2019 Minnesota State Fair. At the Dairy Goodness Bar, fair-goers are encouraged to suggest new creative flavors or possible combinations for the 2020 contest.

The Dairy Goodness Bar, located near the Princess Kay of the Milky Way butter sculpting booth in the Dairy Building, is one of the State Fair’s most popular concessions and is owned by the state’s dairy farm families. The building – located at the corner of Judson and Underwood – is open daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.
