Butlerview Farms is pleased to announce that Ashley O’Hara will be joining their team as Marketing Manager.
Ashley grew up on her family’s registered Holstein farm, Dandyland Holsteins (Master Breeder 2013), in Schomberg, Ontario, Canada, where they milk 70 homebred in a free- stall operation. Ashley was very involved with the on- farm daily work, calf raising/ registration, breeding decisions and marketing.
Her involvement on the farm and in 4-H has developed her passion for agriculture particularly in the dairy industry. Ashley participated in 4-H for 12 years participating in various 4-H shows and competitions including the Royal Winter Fair and TD 4-H Classic show. Her passion for showing afforded her the chance to work with RockyMountain Goldwyn Trisha VG-89, the Royal Winter Fair Junior Champion and Reserve WDE Junior Champion providing her with an All-Canadian Junior Yearling and 4-H Junior Yearling title in 2010. Two other animals she owned or worked with under her Sahara prefix included; Holywell Atwood Polly VG-87 and Rockymountain Golden Winne EX-92.
Working with her 4-H heifers has taught Ashley the true values of responsibility, perseverance and strong work ethic. Ashley has continued this passion and gained experience and acquired knowledge of dairy genetics working at numerous shows and sales for several breeders across Canada and USA.
A graduate from the University of Guelph in 2013 with a bachelor degree in Ag Science, with a specialty in Animal Science. Ashley was an intern at Holstein Canada providing her with more knowledge and experience in the Classification, Strategic Communications and Parentage research department. Recently Ashley completed an internship at Lewisdale Farms in Prince Edward Island, working to prepare the cattle for the Eastside-Lewisdale Celebration Sale.
Ashley is looking forward to gaining a greater knowledge and understanding of Holstein genetics and genomics. She also looks forward to developing her marketing skills to successfully help promote Butlerview genetics on a national and international basis.
