Breath Taking Results at Arethusa / Avonlea Summer Splash Sale

At one of the most picturesque farms in the world, Arethusa Farms hosted the 2015 edition of the Avonlea Summer Splash sales series.  From every angle Arethusa farms is breathtaking.  George and Tony have used there sense of class and style to develop Arethusa into an experience dairy breeders and visiter’s of any background can’t help to be amazed.

With some of the greatest Jersey cattle in the world roaming the perfectly manicured pastures, the team at Arethusa had everything looking breath taking.  Combine that with some of the greatest cheese and dairy products in the world produced at Arethusa farms and the experience at the 2015 Arethusa-Avonlea Summer Splash is one those in attendence are sure to never forget.

In a sale that averaged over $7,200 it was a daughter of HURONIA CENTURION VERONICA 20J EX-97 the cow that put Arethusa on the world map, was the sale topper.  Lot 98 Arethusa Vaudeville Excitement VG-88 is a show winning Bridon Excitation daughter of Veronica who has proven herself as one of the greatest tanbark trail breeding cows in the world. Purchased by Westcoast Holsteins of BC, Canada for $105,000.

The 2nd highest seller of the day was LOT 4 TLJ Santana V Maid 2164-P who sold for $53,000 to Progenesis.  Maid 2164-P is the hight polled Jersey heifer in the world and #88 overall.  Sired by Kash In Santana P from 10 of 11 generations VG.

Third highest seller of the day was was the All-Canadian Junior 3 year old from 2014, Lot 100 $26,500 Avonlea Comerica Velvet_ET VG-89.

Another daughter of Veronica, was the forth highest seller. Lot 103 Arethusa Response Vanity-ET EX-93 is the Response daughter of Veronica that like her amazing dam, is proving to be a great brood cow in her own right.  Vanity sold for $25,000.

Rounding out the top sellers was Lot 101 Elliotts Tequila Reese EX-93. Selling for $21,000 Reese was the grand champion at the 2014 Big E.

The sale was managed by Avonlea Genetics from Ontario, with the legendary Norm Habholz on pedigrees and Chris “Flash” Hill doing the auctioneering.
